Instructions — Load the Barbell

Quick Start

1. Open Setup and tap the plates you own to toggle them on. Set your units (lbs or kg) and bar weight.

2. Enter your target weight in Load the Barbell.

3. The Plates Per Side card appears automatically showing exactly what to load on each side of the bar.

Setup

Available Plates — Tap a plate to toggle it on or off. Use +/− to set how many of each plate you own. BarbellMax only suggests plates you actually have.

Units — Switch between lbs and kg. Switching units resets your plate selection since plate sizes differ between systems.

Bar Weight — Select the weight of your barbell. Standard bars are 45 lbs / 20 kg.

Mode

Quick Lift — Enter a percentage (e.g. 80) to instantly see that percentage of each of your logged lift maxes. Tap any weight to load it directly into the calculator.

Show Rest Timer — Toggle the Rest Timer module on or off.

Load the Barbell

Type your target weight — this is the total weight on the bar including the bar itself.

Your target weight is saved automatically and restored whenever you return to this page, even after navigating to other tabs. You never have to re-enter your working weight mid-session.

In Warm-up Sets mode, two extra fields appear:

Plates Per Side

This card appears automatically once you enter a working weight. It shows exactly which plates to load on each side of the bar.

In Warm-up Sets mode, each warm-up set is a separate row with a ✓ Done button — tap it to check off the set as you complete it. Each row shows remove chips (red) first, then add chips (green), so you always see what to strip off before loading on.

Plate Prep — Shows the total plates to pull from the rack across both sides so you can grab everything at once before you start.

Rest Timer

Set your rest period in minutes and seconds, then tap Start. The timer counts down and plays a looping alarm when it hits zero.

Tap Dismiss to stop the alarm. Tap Reset to return to your set time. The alarm continues until dismissed so you never miss it mid-set.

Reorder Modules

Every module has a grip icon on the left of its header. Press and hold it, then drag the module to a new position. Your layout is saved automatically.

Tap Hide ▾ on any module header to collapse it and keep the screen tidy.
