BarbellMax

How to use every feature

Quick Start

BarbellMax figures out which plates to load, plans your warm-up sets, tracks your one rep maxes, and times your rest.

1. Open Setup and tap the plates you own to toggle them on. Set your units (lbs or kg) and bar weight.

2. Scroll to Load the Barbell inside Setup and type your target weight.

3. The Plates Per Side card appears automatically showing exactly what to load.

Setup

Available Plates: Tap a plate to toggle it on or off. The number on each plate shows how many you own (tap the + / − to adjust). BarbellMax will only suggest plates you actually have.

Units: Switch between lbs and kg. This resets your plate selection since plate sizes differ between systems.

Bar Weight: Select the weight of your barbell from the dropdown. Standard bars are 45 lbs / 20 kg.

Mode

Quick Lift: Enter a percentage (e.g. 80) to see that percentage of each of your lift maxes. Tap a weight to load it into the calculator.

Show Rest Timer: Toggle the Rest Timer module on or off. Turn it off to hide it when you don't need it.

Load the Barbell

Found at the bottom of Setup. Type your target weight here. This is the weight you want loaded on the bar.

In Warm-up Sets mode, two extra fields appear:

Rest Timer

Set your rest period in minutes and seconds, then tap Start. The timer counts down and plays a looping alarm when it hits zero.

Tap Dismiss to stop the alarm. Tap Reset to go back to your set time.

The alarm will keep going until you dismiss it so you never miss it mid-set.

Plates Per Side

This card appears automatically once you enter a working weight. It shows the plates to load on each side of the bar.

In Warm-up Sets mode it shows each warm-up set as a separate row with a ✓ Done button. Tap it to check off each set as you go.

Plate Prep (inside this card) shows the total plates to pull from the rack across both sides, so you can grab everything at once before you start.

One Rep Max Calculator

Select your lift (Bench, Squat, Deadlift, or Pull-ups), then enter the weight you lifted and how many reps you did.

BarbellMax uses three proven formulas to estimate your one rep max:

You can toggle each formula on or off. The large number shown is the average of all enabled formulas.

You can also type a number directly into the large 1RM field to manually enter a known max.

Training Loads: Below your 1RM, every percentage from 95% down to 20% is shown. Tap a percentage to load that weight into the plate calculator.

LOG: Tap this button to save the entry to your Max Lift history.

Pull-ups: Enter your bodyweight and any added weight (leave added weight at 0 for bodyweight-only). BarbellMax will log your max reps if no weight is added.

Max Lift

Shows your most recent logged max for each lift at a glance. Tap a lift button to see its full history.

Each history entry shows the date, weight, reps, and calculated 1RM. Tap an entry to reload those numbers into the calculator. Tap the trash icon to delete an entry. Tap the date to edit it.

Max Lift Total: At the bottom, your combined Bench + Squat + Deadlift total is calculated automatically (Pull-ups are excluded). This is your powerlifting total.

Reorder Modules

Every module has a grip icon on the left side of its header. Press and hold it, then drag the module to any position. Your layout is saved automatically.
